Prove me wrong. Tell me, what PS3 game has good textures? I hope to Darwin that future PS3 games will have good textures, but the killzone 2 and resistance 2 videos don't leave me with much hope. (Resistance 1 was an awesome game, good textures or not, and killzone 2 looks incredible, good textures or not, but its starting to look like textures are the achilles heel of the PS3.)
Good move heroman, good move. They are both great consoles and they both have a lot of great games. In a perfect world, every gamer would own both consoles and we could stop this constant fanboy BS. I realise not everyone can afford both, and thats too bad, but the more people who own both the better.
The graphics in MGS4 are very inconsistent. The character models, human faces and cutscenes are excellent, better than any game I've seen on the 360. But a lot of the graphics in the game itself aren't very impressive, mostly because of the terrible textures. The graphics in the jungle section of south america are straight up BAD. Maybe one of these days the PS3 will be able to produce a game with good textures. Maybe a few years from now the PS3 will even be able to produce a game with textures that are as good as the textures in 360 games.

The 360 is making progress in this area. Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata have massive cutscenes. Neither of those games are as good as MGS4 of course, but they are story driven. The 360 is not the shooter-only console that people think it is.
As long as they let you skip the cutscenes I think they can make them as long as they want. I've always hated cutscenes in the past, but there have been some games this generation, like Lost Odyssey, that had cutscenes I actually liked, mostly because the graphics have gotten so much better this gen. I liked the cutscenes in MGS4 a lot, frankly more than the game. I could watch cutscenes with Naomi all day long. I guess it comes down to whether the cutscenes are high quality or not.
I told you guys that MGS4 wouldn't move PS3s. Why doesn't anyone listen to me? MGS4 is a great game, no doubt, but its too strange, the controlls are too complicated, the story is too complicated, and the cutscenes are too long to appeal to the average Joe. MGS4 is only big amoung hardcore gamers, the type who read N4G. You're never going to see MGS4 mentioned on Conan O'brien or saturday night live like you did with COD4 or GTA4. Its not a huge game and won't move consoles.
I don't remember any hype for this game at all and I don't think it sold very well. Its one of the greatest games ever made though. Truly a masterpiece.
The only problem with MGS4 is the textures. Its the same problem that every PS3 game has.
I liked the cutscenes. I think they're the best looking cutscenes in any game. (Thought the gameplay was boring and awkward though. Aww yeah, I went there.)
I won't pretend to know anything about computers, RAM, memory, etc. All I know is that I've never seen a PS3 game with good textures, and I'm starting to think I never will. I'm guessing you think that PS3 sales will double because of MGS4? I'm a playstation fan, but come on dude, MGS4 is a hardcore game. It has a complicated story, complicated controlls and long, long cut-scenes. MGS4 will not move consoles. Joe Six-Pack has no idea what metal gear is, and joe six-pack doesn't want to sit through hour long cut-scenes. I'll be surprised if MGS4 moves one extra PS3.

Shadow of the Collosus, Ico, Portal, Half-Life 2, Okami, FFVII, Destiny of an Emperor, and probably some other games I can't remember are all better than MGS4. Action will always be better than stealth. Of course, its all a subjective matter of opinion.
